Indians and Three Cards
Today was the 2 nd day of Chinese New Year, which meant Dad was home for another day to bug the heck out of my brother Kiran and I. The day started out with Dad shaking me awake and telling me to NOT go back to my hostel 'cos my aunt and her family are coming over for a game of cards and tea. Obviously i was upset 'cos i wanted to go back to my dorm and feast myself on some serious eye-candy at the canteen (which would be another blog, look out for it)
Anyway, come 3.30pm: my aunt, uncle, 2 teenager-cousins, and 3 other random family friends (all males, left their wives and kids at home) came home. The men start playing cards at the dining table..and the few women dished out the lime juice, followed by tea, followed by banana chips and moong dhal and salted peanuts, followed by water, followed by rasagula, followed by coffee. ( i might have gotten the sequence wrong, but u get the idea). The 2 teens, their mom (my 2nd-coolest aunt) and myself watched MTV and admired Jay-Z's RayBan's and disucssed how Chester Beddingfield from Linkin Park looks like he wants to pee 'cos he keeps grabbing his crotch when he sings (his pants are reeaalllyy loose). 6.30pm: everyone left
If this were in India, there would be only a few changes: (1) the cards session would last from 2pm until 9pm, followed by drinks and chicken briyani and fish fry and u get the idea, (2) there would be MORE coffee served (like 2 per hour MINIMUM), (3)the cards game would be played on a massive bed with the air-con going on full-blast, (4) no one would answer their mobile phones, (5) my crazy gambling aunt would play and would make the person who's making the most money swop seats with her.
I dunno why i had to blog all this...but i figured i haven't blogged since i got my nomadlife account 3 weeks ago..(or was it 2 weeks ago?) So this is my life...all about cheap thrills and lots of afternoon snacks and drinks. And loookiiee here, another weekend in 25hrs' time!! =)
