Graduation

So I'm Officially out of academia (well, for the next year at least).
Just had my Convocation/Commencement/Grad Ceremony on Friday 8July..the Centennial Class of 2005 (NUS, my uni turns 100 this year 1905-2005)! Me from that batch!

And after a very long time, I experienced a really-random afternoon.
Walked in late, had no idea how to wear the gown of course, Felt like a clown, nearly tripped 3 times, had the longest walk across the stage when my name was announced ('Tiruverkadu Prakash Yamini': can't walk too fast with that long a name!), Got a major headache trying to keep my mortar board from falling off..(i don;t think i've ever sat that still before! major balancing act)..did the whole throwing-the-hat-up-into-the-air thing (wouldn't have been complete without doing it, obviously!)

Ya-ME-ni with Mir (friends for life, baby!), Kiran (coolest brother ever) and Pops (da Man!)

And just like I had thought, graduation really isn't that big a deal..especially when people STILL say i look 16...dammit

End of an Era--MC 2004/5

So I've just officially completed my AIESEC in Singapore MC term as VP-External Relations 2004/5. It's 20mins past 12am, 1 July 2005.
The past 2 months of consolidation were grueling and emotionally traumatic...but I must admit that I learnt the most about my darling team-mates, and myself over these 61 days.

We are NEVER the people we think we are.
I am not the person I think I am.
Which is crazy, 'cos I feel that I can't even believe or trust myself these days. I've never been in so much doubt before.

I'm now a fresh alumnus of AIESEC....
(inner voice going: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO..NEVERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!" )
I usually would not admit it, but I think it's time I do it for some healthy closure:

I'm now more in love with this organization than I ever was before.
I've met so so SO many trainees and ex-trainees and SNs and ex-MC members and even ex-members over the past couple of months (and years), and I've re-remembered why I even joined it in the first place.
--I remember my first conference, I remember how I felt RIGHT-AT-HOME..and I was in Vancouver then, bang across the Pacific.
--I love picking up trainees at the airport (although I don't do it as much as I want to) and taking them around Singapore.
--I LOVE Lau Pa Sat ...yeah the food gets boring..but who the hell cares when the company is so great! (oh, and there's SATAY too)
--I'm even starting to like Tea Joy...
inner voice: She Lieesssss.....She LIIIEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS...!!!! (think Gollum)
--I love this organization 'cos you think the Alumni have horns when u're younger...hahahahha...but they're such wonderful AWESOME darlings when you really get to know them.. (i.e. Shahrin, Yingster, Mr Dong, even Cheryl & Triinikas now eh!! =p)
--I love this organization 'cos the peepz work hard and play harder. (I can't think of a single AIESEC party that sucked..honestly)
--I love AIESEC 'cos your team members become your closest friends, but because you also find a friend within yourself.

So apparently I do have an sentimental bone somewhere in me after all..

Right.....I now enter the 'I'm-an-alumnus-of-AIESEC; Was-in-the-MC-x-years-ago' Epoch..All I see before me are parties, more howdy-doody-doos, more parties, more see-you-laters, traineeships, more I-want-to-do-more-in-lifes, more I'm-still-an-AIESECer.

So here's to what life holds for all of us =)
