Choose

The power to choose is an amazing thing. It can control your very mood, thoughts and character.
If you think about it, every morning we wake up with a choice. You can choose to be grumpy over waking up and choose to have a rotten day cos there's no sunshine outside and it's gloomy and gray..and worse..it's a Monday.

Or you can choose to have a confident, happy day. A day where you choose to bring a smile to someone else, where you choose to make a difference in another's day by actually listening to them, rather than just 'hearing them out', where you choose to learn something from that person you can't stand, rather than 'tolerate their nonsense'. A day where I choose to not let another person's comments get the worse of me, but rather choose to not give up my self-control over to that person and instead manage my own feelings.

Be Pro-active, not Reactive
We tend to react easily to life and people.. "he is bugging me"..why do u let him bug u in the first place? So why do we get reactive? Maybe, just maybe, it's cos we're not comfortable about taking responsibility for the consequences. (oooh big words coming from Yam).

Just take a minute and think about the number of times we tend to blame our situation on someone or something else. Global warming: oh its cos of the industry and all those cars out there (and my car aint making things better, sigh) Crappy mood: oh that person said something so nasty to me. Putting on weight: oh work is getting too much for me and i've no time (ok that's me )

I gained SOME weight when I was in India and when i look at pictures of myself pre-india, i keep thinking 'oh i was so fit then bla bla'. And then, i had a moment..i realized how it was when i was in india. i CHOSE not to work out actually..i chose to drink and eat and be merry..i remember telling myself 'i'm just gonna have fun and put on weight and see what happens'...well..i sure took responsiblity for the consequences..only problem was, i didnt realize how hard it would be to LOSE the consequences =p So another point: think about the consequences of either choice before u actually MAKE the choice =p and then take responsibility =)

damn, gotta go to gym tmrw..no, i CHOOSE to go to gym tmrw..i choose to get fit..i also choose to not compare myself against the slimmer more flexible 50plus-yr-old tai-tais in the yoga class..drats

100th post

Think its a bit more than 2 years since i started my blog..and this is my HUNDREDTH post!!!
okay, im suuureee there are loads of other people who hit post #100 by month #6..but i think i've become a lot more quiet over the past couple of years..dont reeallyy feel like bla-ing too much, ya know..also, nothing really interesting has been happening in life..

just becoming more pensive..or more as a result of being self-critical..i tell u, self-doubt it one of the most terrible things to have happen to u..try not to get into it..

i recently purchased this book called "The Language of Letting Go"..besides talking about a lot of other stuff, they do have some good points ..like the one i just read in my car before getting out

"Celebrate"..celebrate your achievements, ur accomplishments, celebrate being you. We tend to discourage celebration and being proud of one's achievements when we say that he/she is going down the road of arrogance..well, there's always a line..try not to cross it of course..but still, celebrate..celebrate for what you learnt today, celebrate for having felt the sun in ur face, celebrate for being a good person; for making someone or even yourself smile.

I'm celebrating now..not 'trying to' (im deleting that word from my vocab)..i am.
